Who can create a Cortex Flex account, and whether a parent or guardian has to approve it, depends on the athlete's age and where they live. We ask for your date of birth and country (and, in Canada, your province or territory) when you sign up, and apply the rules below automatically.
This page is a plain-language summary. The Terms of Service for your region are what govern your use of Cortex Flex.
The three outcomes
- You sign up yourself. You agree to the Terms and consent documents on your own.
- A parent or guardian approves. We email your parent or guardian a link. Your account stays on hold until they review and approve it.
- Not available yet. Account setup stops, and the account can't be used.
Canada
Quebec
- 18 and over: you sign up yourself.
- 12 to 17: a parent or guardian approves.
- Under 12: not available yet.
Rest of Canada
- 18 and over: you sign up yourself.
- 13 to 17: a parent or guardian approves.
- Under 13: not available yet.
United States
- 13 and over: you sign up yourself.
- Under 13: available, but only with a parent's verifiable consent. Your parent approves by email and then confirms a second time before the account is activated, as required by the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
All other countries
- 18 and over: you sign up yourself.
- From your country's minimum age up to 17: a parent or guardian approves.
- Under your country's minimum age: not available yet.
The minimum age is 13, unless your country appears in the list below with a higher age. If you choose "Not listed / prefer not to say" when you sign up, the minimum age is 13.
Where the listed age is 18, you must be 18 to sign up, and there is no parent or guardian option.
